How to Make a Waffle Bar for Breakfast

When you're serving breakfast or brunch to a crowd, a buffet-style system works well and lets everyone get their waffles exactly how they want them. Although a waffle bar takes more preparation and cleanup, the extra effort is well worth it. The key to a successful waffle bar is in arranging everything logically. You want your guests to be able to move along the waffle bar in assembly-line fashion, without having to backtrack.

Things You'll Need
- Serving platter
- Plates
- Butter dish and knife
- Small serving bowls
- Spoons

Place a stack of plates, one for each guest, at one end of the waffle bar.

Position the serving platter of waffles next to the stack of plates.

Put a butter dish and knife next to the waffles. Most people will put the butter on their waffles before adding other toppings.

Lay out the jams, jellies and cream cheeses in small serving bowls. Provide a knife or spoon for each of these toppings.

Place nuts and fruits in small bowls next to the spreads. Walnuts and pecans make particularly good choices. Also provide an assortment of fresh and dried fruits such as blueberries, apricots, bananas, kiwis, strawberries and raisins. Put each topping, along with a spoon, in a separate bowl.

Arrange creamy toppings after the fruits and nuts. Along with whipped cream, you can also include creme fraiche and yogurt.

Provide a variety of syrups for guests to drizzle over their finished product. Some choices include maple syrup, fruit-flavored syrups and chocolate syrup. Either serve them in small bowls with tiny ladles or set out bottles.
