How to Use a Tea Tumbler

Until recently, tea drinkers were forced to brew their tea ahead of time, then pour it into insulated mugs for tea drinking on the go. With insulated tea tumblers, you can brew fresh cups of tea right in your travel mug, eliminating the need for a separate tea pot to wash at the end of the day. Use your tea tumbler as you go out the door in the morning or as an alternate to tea bags at the office or at school.

Things You'll Need
  • Loose tea
  • Measuring spoon
  • Pot or kettle

Open the top of the tea tumbler. Remove the top and the mesh insert. Rinse the tumbler out with hot water to warm up the inside of the cup.

Measure the desired amount of loose tea leaves into the mesh cup. Most tea blends and herbal teas require 1 teaspoon of leaves per cup of tea. If you have an oversized tea tumbler, use 2 teaspoons in the mesh cup.

Fill a pot or kettle and place it on the stove. Heat the water until it just starts to boil. Remove the pot from the stove and let it sit for about 15 seconds to cool slightly.

Pour the hot water into the tea tumbler cup until it reaches 1 inch below the rim. Insert the mesh basket and screw or snap the lid onto the tumbler. Allow the tea to steep for the desired length of time, depending on what kind of tea you're brewing.

Turn the tea tumbler upside down once, then back right side up after the brewing time has passed. This will mix the tea inside the tumbler. Open the lid over the drinking spout and enjoy your tea.
